Guidelines for Creating Files for Your Commercial Printer Helpful Hints To Assure Good Production We have encountered just about every type of art work problem and thought we might put some of our experience to a good use by offering the following suggestions: 1. Do not STAPLE through an area to be reproduced. These holes will have to be patched up or new art work obtained. 2. Do not FOLD where it will leave a line or mark. 3. Do not make PEN or PENCIL MARKS on any part of the reproducible area. 4. Do not put SCOTCH TAPE on any part of the reproducible area. 5. Do not CUT into the reproducible area with scissors when trimming. 6. Avoid COLORED BACKGROUNDS. It may be impossible to drop this background in the camera, most light colors will be O.K. 7. Avoid copy and artwork in LIGHT BLUE, YELLOW, GREEN, or ANY LIGHT COLOR which the camera may not be able to copy. DARK COLORS such as deep red, dark brown and very dark blue may reproduce well. 8. Avoid originals with a FINE-TONE SCREEN or FINE DOTS. Very likely they will reproduce as a blotch or be lost and not print at all. 9. Avoid VERY FINE LINE art work, especially if it requires much reduction in size, as the lines may disappear. 10. Do not request art work to be reproduced in REVERSE without clearly showing the boundaries of the reversed art work. 11. Avoid COLORED ART WORK if clean black and white art work is available. If in doubt, please contact us. |
